Save Arizona's Minimum Wage! -- Salvar al Salario Minimo en Arizona!

At the end of February, the Commerce Committee of the Arizona House of Representatives approved a bill that would steal money from the paychecks of Arizona's lowest paid employees. The bill cuts the minimum wage by $3 for teenagers and $2 for tipped employees. greed.jpgTell the bill's sponsor, Rep. Steve Court, to stop giving breaks to the 1% at the expense of Arizona's working families!

Rep. Court,

We call on you to stop doing the bidding of Arizona's 1% by cutting the minimum wage by $3 for teenagers and $2 tipped employees. This is a special interest payoff at the expense of our state's working families. We demand you pull the bill or let it die.

Our legistators need to live on this income for 3 months to really determine if it should be lowered … or GREATLY increased.

    Rep. Court,

The minimum wage cuts proposed will have a very negative effect on your economy. If you don’t believe me, please take the time to do some research on this. The Economic Policy Institute has done extensive research on this issue and it may help if you check it out. There is no economic data anywhere showing reducing the minimum wage will do anything but harm to the economy in your state.

By the way, the 1968 minimum wage of $1.60 is equivalent to a $10.04 wage in today’s dollars. Do you really want to increase poverty and resorting to Food Stamps, AFDC, and other Federal programs for those in poverty?

This idea is not going to help anyone but those that need no help. This is a naked transfer of money from those that need it the most to those that need it the least. This is the most destructive path you could take. Please see that this bill dies in committee. Or be ready to defend your decision when you come up for re-election.

Hoping you will do the research on this issue and make the right decision, I remain yours in the spirit of the best of America.

Reducing the wages of already poor people so you and your filthy rich friends can have even more money is just morally corrupt.
