Save Arizona's Minimum Wage! -- Salvar al Salario Minimo en Arizona!

At the end of February, the Commerce Committee of the Arizona House of Representatives approved a bill that would steal money from the paychecks of Arizona's lowest paid employees. The bill cuts the minimum wage by $3 for teenagers and $2 for tipped employees. greed.jpgTell the bill's sponsor, Rep. Steve Court, to stop giving breaks to the 1% at the expense of Arizona's working families!

Rep. Court,

We call on you to stop doing the bidding of Arizona's 1% by cutting the minimum wage by $3 for teenagers and $2 tipped employees. This is a special interest payoff at the expense of our state's working families. We demand you pull the bill or let it die.

Reducing the minimum wage is a bad idea. Many tipped employees are single mothers trying feed children. Many teenagers are relied upon to support the family budget in these times. Reducing minimum wage serves no one but the already wealthy. Stand up for the minimum wage worker; keep the minimum wage at $7.65 per hour. It isn’t really a living wage, but it is better than unemployment.

As a neighbor, I feel for those barely surviving on what businesses pay people even when they are successful, paying less than the inadequate Minimum wage is a travesty.

The very thought of this is outrageous. The “leadership” in our state government has brought real shame on themselves even considering such a backwards idea.

Per the 1%: Lower taxes and increase taxes on the working poor. That’s really Christian of them, isn’t it?

Such bills as these distract us from true difficulties, and therefore should be ignored in favor of larger purposes.
